Tamas Food   According to the Tao from China and the Ayurvedic doctrine in India there are some foods that have a negative effect on the consciousness of creatures. The doctrine comes from many buddhas and we may safely assume that the information is correct. Given that consciousness has a direct link with the quality of our food it is important that we avoid eating tamas foods. The evolution of sentient life is a process which leads to the expansion of consciousness to the ultimate end which Buddha Sakyamuni calls emptiness.
